Finance Officer

(Permanent, Full-Time)

The role reports to Finance Manager and is an integral part of the Business Office team.

Wenona supports both academic and support staff to develop their expertise through initiatives such as Wenona Teaching Fellowships, Seeding Grants and ongoing outstanding professional learning that develops and supports career development into the future.

Key Priorities

• Processing of invoices and generate the weekly payment run, following authorisation by the appropriate Heads of Department.
• Reconcile creditor statements and answer supplier queries in a timely and accurate manner.
• Weekly processing of staff reimbursement claims.
• Monthly reconciliation and processing of corporate credit card accounts, and assigning costs to designated cost accounts.
• Monitor online purchase orders and liaise with Heads of Department to resolve outstanding items and variances.
• Maintain accurate records for audit purposes.
• Maintenance of the creditor’s ledger, ensuring valid ABNs, updated creditor information, including address, contacts, and bank accounts changes.
• Provide back-up to the accounts receivable function and other duties, as directed by the Finance Manager.
• Provide administrative and operational assistance across the School, as requested, to meet functional requirements and uphold the reputation of Wenona.

Education and Experience

• Qualifications in Accounting, Business Administration or similar.
• Relevant experience or passion to work in an educational environment or similar (Desirable).
• Relevant experience in a processing role.
• NSW Working with Children Check.

• Experience of working within a finance administration environment.
• Proven organisational skills and ability to prioritise competing demands and to work effectively both independently and collaboratively, meeting deadlines and delivering high quality outcomes.
• Highly developed computer skills, including proficiency using the MS Office suite and experiences with data management platforms.
• A sense of humour.

General Conditions of the Role

• Award & Classification: Clerical and Administrative Staff Level 3.
• Hours of work: Permanent, full-time Monday to Friday. Daily hours will be 8.00am – 4.00pm (including 30 mins unpaid lunch break).
• Reporting Line: All positions report to the principal.
• The line manager for this position is: Finance Manager.
• Professional Learning: You will be expected to attend and contribute to all staff professional development days and requirements as outlined in the School’s calendar.
• School Holidays: Annual leave should only be taken during the student holiday period. The School has mandatory closure between the Christmas/New Year period (10 days) and you will be expected to take this time as annual leave.
