Overview

Our Librarian will oversee the library and perform related library services including selecting, acquiring, cataloguing, classifying, circulating, and maintaining library materials.

Qualifications

Education:

• Minimum of an Associate in Arts or Science degree from an institution whose two (2) year program meets the American Library Association Criteria for Programs to Prepare Library/Media Technical Assistants.

Experience:

• Minimum of six (6)months of experience in various library tasks relating to the acquisition and circulation of books.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Massachusetts Sub-professional or Professional Certificate of Librarianship preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requests to determine needed information and assist in furnishing or locating that information.
• Search standard reference materials, including online sources and the Internet, to answer reference questions.
• Plan and teach classes on topics such as information literacy.
• Review and evaluate materials, using book reviews, catalogs, faculty recommendations, and current holdings to select and order print, audio-visual, and electronic resources.
• Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
• Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
• Must be alert; pay close attention to details.
• Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
