Position Overview:
We are currently searching for an Infrastructure Engineer to join the team at our WELL EMR Group. In this key role, you will report to the Head of WEG and will contribute to the oversight and execution of the infrastructure needs of the business. As an infrastructure engineer, you will help shape and oversee the systems, processes, and team members necessary to deliver the various EMR offerings, including the hosting, monitoring, and security provisions.
The successful candidate’s core capability will be in the EMR operations and technology, both in product development and management. A deep understanding of cloud hosting, on-prem hosting, medical technology and software development, project delivery, and management is key. Responsibilities:
On-going project-based work (~60%):
Implementation/deployment of new software and/or services across a distributed fleet of systems
Research and testing/evaluation of new software, software updates/patches, new services
Work on improving fleet orchestration and monitoring, via new Salt states and related system automation
Work on unifying system consistency, golden image creation, Change Control, and so on
Proactive security-focused work (~30%):
Conduct regular security audits/scans of our environments and manage systems
Review security mailing lists for new CVEs, exploits, or notable bugs, which may impact our managed systems
Review system settings, such as firewall configuration, services, authentication settings, and so on
Validate implemented security mitigations, patches, updates, and so on
Emergency engineering-focused work (~5%):
Occasional technical escalations from other staff performing Linux system migrations and upgrades
Emergency security-focused work (~5%):
Review emergency vendor patch notices and implement/deploy across the fleet as directed
Although rare, the above types of emergency work may happen at any time, including overnight and/or during weekends
Requirement:
8+ years relevant experience (customer service, technical support) with any of the following:
Network Services and Configuration (DNS, DHCP, VLAN, VPN, Firewalls, etc.)
Configuration Management Tools (Salt, Puppet, etc.)
Virtualization Technologies (Proxmox, OpenVZ, VMware)
Storage Technologies (Ceph, SAN)
Monitoring/Reporting Systems (Nagios, Icinga, Zabbix, Sensu)
Linux (Ubuntu, Debian) Shell Scripting (Bash, Python, Perl, etc.)
Backups and Archiving (rsync, rsnapshot, mysqlump, master-slave replication)
LEMP Stack (MySQL, Tomcat, Nginx)
Java knowledge a bonus
You must be passionate about technology
Centralized log collection and parsing, ideally into a SIEM (e.g.: ArcSight, QRadar, Splunk ES, etc.)
Firewalls, both commercial and open-source (e.g.: Cisco ASA, IPtables, Juniper SRX, Palo Alto Networks, pfSense)
Network analysis and troubleshooting (e.g.: tcpdump, WireShark)
Network and application scanning (e.g.: Metasploit, Nessus, NMAP)
System automation frameworks (e.g.: Ansible, SaltStack)
Troubleshooting Linux environments (e.g.: DNS, NFS, NTP, SSH, SMB, SMTP)
VPNs on Linux systems (e.g.: OpenVPN, WireGuard)
Working in large, distributed environments with remote/off-site systems
Writing system automation scripts (e.g.: BASH, Python)
Nice to Have:
Experience with Cacti/NetFlow/sFlow/etc. and dashboarding/graphing metrics
Experience with Elasticsearch Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats) configuration, deployment, operation
Experience writing custom server monitoring scripts (Nagios, Sensu, Zabbix, etc.)
Understanding of Public Key Cryptography, Certificate Authorities, and general Internet PKI functioning
Azure, AWS, and/or GCP experience
