Purpose of Role: The Weir Technical Centre (WTC) delivers innovative and sustainable solutions to the mining and minerals industry globally. The services focus on providing test work and use results, data and process knowledge for conceptual design of process and slurry handling solutions incorporating products from within and external to the Weir Minerals portfolio.

The WTC Engineer will provide support to daily operations at the site and play an integral role in meeting client technical needs. The primary focus is on equipment for mineral slurries including, but not limited to, hydrocyclones, centrifugal and positive displacement slurry pumps, pipeline transportation, mixers, thickeners, decanter centrifuges, filter press and other equipment. This supports Weir’s drive for integrated solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct research and development, and industrial test work safely, accurately and efficiently in line with Weir and client requirements.
• Analyse test work results and produce factual s for review by senior engineers.
• Produce documentation pertaining to the standard work practices and procedures at the WTC.
• Prepare samples and carry out laboratory test work such as particle size distributions and rheological characterization.
• Equipment handling including set up and installation of new equipment.
• Interact well with stakeholders, internal and external to Weir.
• Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Chemical or Process Engineering.
• One to two years of previous experience in a minerals processing or applicable field.
• Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Capable of carrying out a physically active role on the laboratory/factory floor.
