Server Analyst

Department: Infrastructure and Service Management

Position Overview: The Server Analyst will be responsible for the daily operations within the GOA centralized Windows Active Directory (ADS). This encompasses object creation and maintenance, user access to network resources, file permissions and security, ing, and the development and modification of administrative guidelines and processes. The candidate will also be tasked with maintaining and enhancing the server core infrastructure functionality, ensuring it aligns with client business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day operations within the GOA centralized Windows Active Directory (ADS).
• Perform problem diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution.
• Conduct hardware and OS installations, migrations, and upgrades.
• Plan for software and hardware upgrades and migrations.
• Develop and maintain documentation.
• Maintain operating systems and associated infrastructure software.
• Develop system-related procedures.
• Provide cross-training and knowledge transfer to other server team members.

Requirements:

• University graduation in computer science or a related discipline with 2 years of User Account Administration (UAA) experience; OR
• 2-year diploma in computer science or a related discipline with 4 years of UAA experience; OR
• 1-year certificate in computer science or a related discipline with 5 years of UAA experience; OR
• 6 years of UAA experience.
• 3 years of experience using Windows 2016 Active Directory for large-scale environments (over 5000 users).
• 3 years of experience creating local and global security groups and applying permissions on Windows 2012 servers.
• 3 years of experience using Microsoft Exchange Administrator or administering objects in O365.
• 3 years of experience with problem tracking software such as BMC Remedy AR System or Service Now.
• 3 years of experience demonstrating a strong understanding of New Technology File System Permissions and best practices.
• 2 years of experience with IT Service Management processes.
• Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends as required.

Desired Skills/Experience:

• 1 year of experience with 3rd party utilities like Dell Security Explorer 9.6.
• 3 years of experience creating accounts using Active Roles 7.0 (or newer) Console.
• 1 year of experience with scripting tools, notably PowerShell.
• 1 year of experience with LDAP Query software.
• 1 year of experience with Robocopy.
• 1 year of experience with Remote Access software (VPN, Citrix, MFA, Remote Desktop, VDI).
• 3 years of experience with Microsoft Office suite, Office 365.
• 2 years of experience with the GOA IT infrastructure, business direction, or strategies.
• 1 year of experience working in the Government of Alberta Domain environment or a similar environment.
• Canadian education (certificate, diploma, or degree) or foreign credentials certified by Immigration Canada, IQAS, or an accreditation acceptable to the Government of Canada or Alberta.

Salary: $50.00-$58.00 per hour
