Overview:
We’re looking for software interns to take part in a 10-week summer program. We’re interested in students studying a Computer Science degree, or a specialization of Computer Science (e.g. Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science). We’re open to students at any stage of their degree, including those moving on to an MSc.
The software intern will work in a small team of 2 to 4 people, with the task to design and build an application for internal use at Waters. The intern team will have ongoing guidance from experienced software engineers, working in our Wilmslow-based team.
The internship will start with an introductory phase (around 1 week), to ease the person in and get a feel for their capabilities. Work in the introductory phase will be individual, so that the person can go at their own pace. Working as a team on a group project will start after the introductory phase.
Throughout the internship, the development work will be supplemented with non-project sessions to provide some insight and experience into software development within the industry. Example sessions include Agile development, continuous delivery, attending team stand-ups and demonstrations, group tech-talks, and career advice.
Before the end of the internship the students will demonstrate the application they’ve made and participate in a two-way feedback session.
The internship will be based on hybrid-working.
