Water Technology Research Center UCLA Hiring for Professor at Remote Full Time

Web Developer/Manager – University of California Los Angeles (UCLA)
UCLA Water Research Group is inviting applicants for a web developer position at the intersection of front and back-end web development, and database operations/management. The candidate will join the UCLA team on the development and deployment of Full-Stack web database services for the distributed water treatment systems. The candidate will also be responsible for managing UCLA’s cloud-based infrastructure hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) dedicated to receiving, processing and visualizing real-time streaming data from remote water treatment devices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Skillful in backend and database development including building RESTful services to efficiently communicate with remote hardware devices with real-time streaming data
• Leverage AWS including EC2 instances, MEAN Stack, Route53 and AWS zone management and web hosting
• Develop, refine, maintain and improve web-based applications

• Customize front-end web application architecture for interactive data exploration and visualization
• Interact with the internal technical team to understand and implement new ways of UI/UX improvement.
• Design and implement AWS event-driven routines for online monitoring and reporting in an effective manner.
• Design and test applications to ensure data quality and systems reliability
• Enhance user experience by designing new UI and UX modules

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Currently enrolled (undergraduate or graduate) in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Robotics, Information Technology, or other related fields.
• Experience in software development, computer science fundamentals in object-oriented design and data structures
• Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem-solving, and complexity analysis,
• Practical experience with database design and architecture, including management of relational and non-relational databases.
• AWS Big data technologies experience (S3, AWS Containers)
• Proficiency in frontend frameworks such as JavaScript (ReactJS, AngularJS)
• Experience with serverless development environment (NodeJS), Lamda, and MongoDB
• Git or other distributed version control system
