Gym Teacher – PE Teacher

Starting salary for certified teacher $38,500 – $42,500 annually

** $200 Sign on Bonus with a guaranteed $200 bonus every month for 4 months.

A Physical Education (PE) Teacher at Watch Me Shine specializes and has experience in education/early intervention and kinesiology. The PE Teachers primary job duty is to ensure students have enriched programming that will allow them to develop motor skills, play skills and good overall physical development. The PE Teacher will provide support and guidance to Providers in their classrooms. The PE Teacher will assist the leadership team in overseeing student progress, programming, support and the training of current and new providers joining the company.

Teachers are expected to learn a variety of early intervention methods, demonstrate mastery level skills working with children with special needs, and be highly motivated and passionate about making a difference in a child’s life. A teacher at Watch Me Shine will never define a child by their diagnosis; rather see a future of great opportunities of friendships, joy and possibilities. The PE Teacher needs to believe whole-heartedly that every child can reach their full developmental potential.

Teachers are responsible for their staff, students, classroom, lesson planning and coordination with other school personnel and team members. Teachers will be active in overseeing the student’s progress, programing, assessments, supervision of staff, and other administrative duties. This will include tasks such as perpetration, coordination and publishing of lesson plans, data collection and analysis, record keeping and report writing. Teachers are responsible for making sure all required reports and administrative paperwork is completed on time and in a thorough manner.

Essential Functions
Include the following:

• Ensure your room is organized for therapeutic and educational purpose
• Organize your classroom and work areas to be attractive, organized, and motivational for student learning
• Ensure students are actively engaged in pursuit of knowledge and their assigned activities
• Set up area/room before each group of children come into the classroom
• Ensure you maintain consistent student rules and procedures
• Ensure quality programing and coordination
• Create rich, rewarding, and unique learning experiences for all students
• Help children to seek, understand, and use knowledge
• Ensure there is a persistent tone of mutual respect throughout the classroom
• Attend parent meetings as necessary to offer feedback and student progress
• Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessments to ensure continuous learning and programming is up to the standards set by the program
• Support education technicians in your room. Model and coach as necessary.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

• Preferred: Bachelors or higher in kinesiology or physical education.
• Teacher certificate with Maine DOE
• CPR/First Aid certification
• Certified Behavioral Health Professional (35 Hours)
• Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training with in the first 3 months
• Pass an extensive criminal history check, vehicle motor check, office of the inspector general, and references
• Teachers must continue professional growth through attending workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work
