Wallingford Public Schools Hiring for Para Educator Job at Wallingford, CT Full Time

The paraeducator works directly with students under the guidance of the classroom teacher. Paraeducators may work with individual students or small groups of students. They may work with students with special needs and may be responsible for the following tasks:

1. Maintain high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality
2. Model positive behavior
3. Follow directions of supervisory professionals
4. Morning/bus duty, escort students to and from bus, if necessary
5. Escort students from one class to another
6. Supervise assigned students at lunch, recess and other classes as appropriate
7. Assist students with toileting care with nurse or other staff when necessary
8. Prepare instructional materials and maintain supplies under the direction of
certified staff
9. Encourage development of positive social and communication skills, self -esteem
, creativity and self-reliance
10.Collaborate with teachers to support daily instruction and student progress
11.Administer assessments to special education students as needed as directed
and instructed by certified staff.
12.Observe and collect data on student behavior and/or performance after
appropriate training from certified staff is provided
13.Support behavior intervention plans using the same emphasis and techniques as
the teacher after appropriate training from certified staff is provided
14.Provide feedback to supervisors to assist with their design of individual student
programs
15.Modify instructional assignments under the supervision of the teacher
16.Attend staff, IEP meetings and parent conferences at the request of the teacher
or administrator
17.Work with individual children or in small groups to reinforce new skills initially
introduced by the teacher
18.Assist with field trips under the supervision of certified staff
19.Continuously monitor children to ensure safety at all times
20.Maintain learning supplies in classroom / resource room including books, paper,
calculators, etc.
21.Supervise student use of equipment and materials as assigned

22.Effectively communicate feedback to motivate students
23.Assist in providing for special physical needs of students (may include
lifting/repositioning students)
24.Uphold high expectations for student achievement and behavior
25.Work effectively with students, teachers, parents and community agencies and
other groups
26.Other tasks as assigned by Administrator or his/her designee

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $18.94 per hour
