Senior Engineers provide design of projects and major tasks within projects. They apply engineering principals and standards, at a high level, for development of studies, designs, construction documents and oversight of construction activities. Senior Engineers may have responsible charge over select projects and direct small teams. Senior Engineers are expected to be able to operate CADD systems and CADD based programs, if appropriate for their technical discipline. Senior Engineers may provide input into the preparation of proposals, budgets, and schedules for new project opportunities.

Essential Functions: include the following.

• Preparation of engineering design studies and s.
• Assume increased responsibility in the preparation of construction design documents, including design details, construction drawings, specifications and estimates.
• Manage selected projects.
• Participate in presentations such as public meetings.
• Monitor work performed and all client requests for work and identify work tasks that are outside approved scope of work.
• Oversee project schedules and budgets. Initiate corrective action as necessary.
• Determine appropriate application of technical methods of the work and verify compliance with client’s criteria.
• Serve as a client contact for project issues.
• Assist in the coordination of subconsultant activities.
• Perform/monitor project filing and archiving to ensure project records are maintained in accordance with company policies.
• Provide training and guidance to others.
• Monitor current design trends/methodologies related to their area of expertise to ensure that the company remains up to date with software, training needs and similar issues.
• Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises multiple employees in the performance of their routine activities; including but not limited to Design Engineer II, Design Engineer I, Senior Designers, Designers, and other technical staff.

Bachelor of Science Degree Required or Equivalent Experience
Professional Engineer Registration required
8 years minimum Design Experience preferred
