This position serves to develop and execute retention strategies to improve the student experience and increase persistence outcomes. The role will focus on retention strategy within the Student Success function, inclusive of student success advising, customer care teams, and Tempo success coaching. He/she will have excellent project management and problem-solving skills and the ability to work cross-functionally to achieve our goals. He/she will have a strong analytical skill set, using metrics to assess and evaluate the performance of the current experience and measure the effectiveness of all future initiatives. This role will report to the Vice President of Student Success.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Evaluate current retention activities and recommend appropriate strategies to improve persistence.
Manage the priority retention initiatives within Student Success, ensuring initiatives are planned and executed on time and budget.
Develop targeted intervention strategies to support at-risk populations
Collaborate with Admissions, Registrar, Student Affairs, Financial Aid, Product Management, and Academic teams to implement retention strategies.
Develop a data-driven assessment plan to regularly evaluate the effectiveness of all retention strategies
Stays on the cutting edge of research and knowledge of new advances in these areas and reflects those in future initiatives.
Builds and maintains relationships with multiple departments to ensure that all related initiatives are effectively implemented.
Responsible for reporting relevant data and trends to senior leadership
Establishes and maintains an effective system of communication to critical internal stakeholders.
Partners with compliance, legal and institutions to ensure that proposed best practices are in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations and accreditor requirements along with the organization’s compliance policies and procedures.
Gather and share competitive intel in regards to admissions and recruitment.
Creates an admissions community staffed with talented, high potential admission colleagues that leverages best practices and provides opportunities for professional development and capability enhancement.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in higher education, including experience with student success and retention and a proven track record of results.
Proven leadership capabilities with the ability to work in a matrix environment and build collaborative relationships
Strategic thinker with a strong results orientation mindset.
Good listener that is able to understand and appreciate the perspectives of colleagues.
Requires broad operational business knowledge and a deep understanding of multiple functions and institutional policies.
Is an effective driver of change following established change management methodologies.
Able to build and communicate a persuasive business case to stakeholders within a complex matrix environment.
Able to generate and analyze data and present a synthesis of findings and recommendations to senior management.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills and keen persuasive ability.
Well-versed with operating in a highly regulated, compliance-driven environment.
