WA Police and Community Youth Centres Hiring for Finance Officer Job at Subiaco Full Time

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate professional to take up the exciting and challenging full-time role of Finance Officer at PCYC Head Office.

Who we are:

PCYC exists so that disadvantaged children and young people at risk across Western Australia have a safe place to go – somewhere they can feel at home, make friends and do things that children should do.

We currently operate in 16 locations across WA, with 37 Blue Light Units in remote and rural areas where there is no PCYC Centre. Our organisation is unique through its partnership with the WA Police, and mission simple – to help all children and young people achieve their potential.

Position Profile:
The position is responsible for timely and accurate end to end Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Debt collection functions, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and procedures. This position also provides support to and cover for the finance team and undertakes any additional duties as directed by the Management Accountant or the Executive Manager, Finance & Business Services.

The aim of the Finance Officer role is to work within the Finance team to deliver professional services, provide advice and support to the organisation in an effective and efficient manner to ensure that the needs of the business are being met.

• Maintain customer accounts through accounts receivable processes to ensure accounts are managed effectively and processed in an accurate and timely manner.
• Ensure all invoices raised are coded correctly and with appropriate descriptions conforming to standard departmental procedures.
• Maintain vendor accounts through accounts payable processes to ensure accounts are managed effectively and processed in an accurate and timely manner.
• Process all invoices, credit cards, expense claims, petty cash expenditure, etc., with reasonable descriptions and correct codes conforming to standard procedures to ensure proper entry into the financial system within a timely manner.
• Ensure all accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions are processed and reconciled to the cashbook.
• Ensure all month end tasks are completed on time and their progress/status is updated regularly on the month end task list.
• Assist the Management Accountant in providing finance support to centre managers and staff assist in development and implementation of PCYC finance policies, procedures, and guidelines
• Establish and strengthen partnerships and networks that contribute to mutual accountability and outcomes.

Skills and Experience:

• Current National Police Clearance
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of accounting
• Well-developed computer skills, including in the use of MS Office Suite and accounting software
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong organisational and planning skills, with ability to manage conflicting priorities
• Ability to apply problem-solving approach to issues
• Ability to meet competing priorities through a flexible approach
• Demonstrated commitment and ability to provide a high standard of customer service, whilst maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
• Formal qualifications in accounting or bookkeeping (desirable)
• Experience using Sybiz Vision (desirable)
• Previous experience in a non-profit organisation (desirable)
