Walcon Marine are seeking an experienced contracts, bid and estimating manager to join their business and oversee all commercial aspects of work; from site visits, estimating, preparing bids and contract management. You’ll be involved in the full lifecycle of projects and no two days are the same! You’ll need to be hands-on, proactive and an experienced commercial manager with a background in civil engineering – preferably some background in the marine civils sector; with knowledge of sheet piling, tides and marine contracting.

About the role…
You’ll be managing our small Commercial Department and work pipeline across the business.
Receiving and Analysing enquiries and tenders from both private clients, Government tenders and Quasi Government tenders.
Measuring and interpret specifications and drawings.
Meticulously preparing accurate bids, estimates and quotations to provide an accurate BofQ to price projects.
Hands-on estimating from a single cleat to multi-million-pound marina projects.
Writing client proposals and preparing winning submissions.
Identifying new business opportunities, winning and seeing those opportunities through to fruition.
Analysing contracts to identify and overcome any problem areas before they arrive.
Working closely with the M.D in all aspects of Commercial Management.

About you…
Degree or HND qualified in Civil Engineering (or other related discipline) – not essential but desirable. We’re more interested in experience than certificates!
Practical experience and knowledge of contracts such as NEC / JCT etc.
Experienced in Commercial Management of civil projects, ideally marine civils.
Knowledge of Marine Works would be beneficial – Marine Piling / Sheet Piling, working with tidal ranges etc.
