We are now looking for a Manager, Parts Technical Support to join our amazing team in Chesapeake, Virginia. This role is pivotal in meeting Volvo Penta’s targets concerning customer satisfaction.

This position is expected to travel up to 30% both domestically and internationally.

What is Your Impact?

As a Manager, Parts Technical Support, you will be responsible for creating and distributing technical information of Volvo Penta engines, sterndrives, and electromobility products as well as its aftermarket parts product planning and its logistics. You will also manage the Parts Technical Support Team that collaborates and supports our customers and proactively organizes and conducts parts competence training.

Some of your core responsibilities will include:

• Mobilizing necessary resources, inspiring collaboration, and promoting best practices and flexibility within the Parts Technical Support team to ensure seasonal and company goals are achieved.
• Working with our Product Development/Engineering team, Methods Engineer and other relative departments ensure that product changes are accurately covered in our posted technical information.
• Developing a network of subject matter experts for gathering product knowledge and for reviewing technical information. This will include researching all aspects of new products to ensure complete, thorough coverage of these products in the technical information database.
• Working and coordinating with other departments within Volvo Penta to continuously develop a viable and comprehensive Parts & Accessories Program to include assuring the continued support of non-current products in accordance with Volvo Penta corporate policies while limiting the proliferation of the number of spare parts.
• Collaborate with and effectively support sales and logistics teams to ensure highest possible availability of parts and accessories. Support and promote aftermarket programs, offerings, and services in coordination with campaign and product launches.
• Coordinate with Product Development and external suppliers to identify and develop the service parts structure needed to support products received and consumed by production as assemblies (e.g., internal engine components)
• Manage the Parts Technical Support team and ensure the creation of technical information meets prevailing standards for technical writing and documentation which results in a high-quality and beneficial customer experience for both internal and external partners.
• Proactively identifying training needs and carrying out in the areas of parts technical and operative competence both for dealer and internal stakeholders. You will also ensure the Team is coached and mentored to excel and perform to a high standard.

Are You Amazing at Troubleshooting and Capable of Developing Others? To Be Successful in this Role…

• You must be able to lead, develop, and coach others in a team effectively.
• You must also be well-organized, detail-oriented, excellent at handling multiple tasks, and amazing at troubleshooting.
• You must be open-minded for the new technique which will improve the efficiency and adapted to the future generation of the employee / customers
• You should have in-depth knowledge of technical writing and application.
• You should have a parts and/or service background and exceptional and extensive knowledge regarding automotive or industrial engines and parts.

As with Most Companies, You Also Need the Following:

• Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook, and familiarity with database programs.
• You’ll be speaking with stakeholders at all levels within and outside the company, so you’ll need excellent communication and presentation skills, including fluency in speaking and writing English.

Education & Experience:

This position requires the following:

• A college degree in automotive, mechanical engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 15 years’ e xperience in creating technical information or customer service/support/technical/competence trainings, preferably in the industrial, automotive or other transportation industries.
• Experience in managing a team is desirable.
