Seeking an Aerospace Industry Engineering professional who is looking to step into an Engineering Manager role with a manufacturing leader.

The Engineering Manager drives all engineering activities and leads, directs, and develops the engineering department and team while providing engineering process direction in support of both production and new product development.

This person manages the full product development life cycle of product lines, collaborating with leadership to identify opportunities for improvement strategies and participating in decision-making that will have a significant impact on products.

Responsibilities include :

• Provide engineering process direction and leadership to the engineering team supporting production and new product components, obtaining optimum productivity, and maintaining alignment to strategic business goals.
• Work closely with development, design and sustaining engineering, internal production resources, and external vendors to make parts that are designed for manufacturability, reliability, source-ability, etc.

• Maintain Configuration Management of design data including drawings, schematics, processes, software, and approved COTS parts.
• Provide guidance regarding design / manufacturing concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques to include standard work.
• Lead in the development of processes, tooling, and procedures to drive improvements and best practices.
• Collaborate, consult, and coordinate with all team members, including Sales, Marketing, Operations, Production, Quality Control, Finance, and the Program Manager on all projects.
• Oversee, approve, and prioritize all engineering projects, product designs and changes to ensure completion of projects is on schedule and within budgetary guidelines and measures financial performance.
• Work closely with program management, process areas, and product work centers to provide timely and qualified technical support to customer needs and requirements.
• Provide managerial and technical support to other departments in resolving a variety of complex issues and interpreting drawings and / or specifications.
• Ensure all work complies with environmental, health and safety standards, industry specifications, customer requirements, company standards, related specifications and protection of proprietary information, risk management and other policies, procedures, and processes.
• Ensure profitability and manufacturability of new designs while managing technical risks.
• Manage team member selection; interviewing, selection of qualified candidates, training, and staff development to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations.
• Provide coaching and mentoring for career development and advancement of team members. Act as a facilitator and educator to the engineering staff to foster cross-training, creativity, teamwork, and smooth process flow.

Assist staff with their developmental plans and provide support as needed to accomplish goals.

• Establish priorities and workflow within the department; identify, analyze, and resolve problems with appropriate resources and action.
• Ensure tracking and ing of key department metrics and process indicators to measure performance and provide opportunities for continuous improvement and to optimize productivity.
• Manage crisis resolution to ensure a continuous flow of product development under designated budgets, timelines, and deliverables.

Requirements :

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required.

US Person includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required. Advanced degree / certifications a plus.
• 5+ years’ experience in Aerospace design and development as a mechanical design engineer, manufacturing engineering, and / or in systems integration required.

3+ years in a managerial role in a design environment, transitioning products from new design into production.

In-depth knowledge of aerospace systems, subsystems, and components as well as understanding of system design and development processes is a must.

Understanding of government regulations and standards related to aerospace. Ability to analyze and interpret technical data.

• Familiarity with ISO 9000 or AS9100 practices and knowledge of and compliance with safety regulations and requirements.
• Excellent leadership and collaboration skills, ability to thrive in a team environment, communicate effectively, and build relationships.

Capable of driving change transformation and strategy execution to achieve specific business results.

• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with government and industry partners.
