VNS Health Hiring for Psychiatrist, Behavioral Health, Brooklyn (PD) Full Time

Ideal applicant provides direct psychiatric evaluation, medical assessment and intervention to mentally ill individuals in the community who are experiencing, or at risk of, an acute psychological crisis.

Responsibilities

Provides consultation and education to program staff, other agencies and other disciplines, including other services of VNS Health. Assists in the overall functioning of the Mobile Outreach.

Consults and educates community and the Agency regarding issues such as crisis management, communication with emotionally disturbed patients, non-violent intervention with violent patients, etc.

Assists and collaborates with the Program Coordinator in the overall functioning of the Mobile Outreach.

Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences of the Mobile Outreach.

Serves as resource person to the Mobile Outreach and other components of the Agency, when requested

Participates with the Mobile Outreach and other appropriate Agency staff in the development and implementation of an in-service training component.

Maintains patient records in accordance with the Mobile Outreach record-keeping mechanism.

Contributes to the formulation of clerical and administrative policies and procedures, as requested.

Works under general direction.

Qualifications

Licensure: Board certification or eligibility required. New York State Physician’s License required.

Education: Medical degree from an accredited college of medicine required. Completion of residency program in psychiatry required.

Experience: Two years of experience in working with patients in mental health setting preferred.
