My client is an industry leading contractor within the rail engineering industry. They are growing their team rapidly due to an influx in work following the award of several large-scale UK contracts!

The purpose of the role is to deputise for the UK BIM Manager with strategy and policy/process development across a number of projects. The successful candidate is an experienced Assistant Manager for BIM in the engineering industry who has previous expereince undertaking some 3D authoring/checking, control/checking of 3rd party work

The Ideal Candidate:

• Must have experience of using Bentley Microstation
• Degree level qualification in Engineering or Technical Design (or similar relevant discipline)
• Experienced with or in one or more (design and or manufacture/construction) area:
  • Railway components, plant or equipment
  • Tunnels/bridges
• Experienced in development of 3D models from basic 2D information
• Ideal and beneficial to have experience of:
  • Bentley Synchro
  • Bentley ProjectWise
  • Bentley Open Rail
• Proactive approach in researching automation solutions for modelling and its outputs
• Also advantageous to have experience of Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D and Navisworks Manage

The Role Will Involve:

Reporting to the UK BIM Manager, you will be involved with supervising other technical staff according to volume of work and further development of the department.

• Federate modelling and survey data for enhanced construction planning
• Undertake model authoring exercises and model quality control from suppliers
• Simulate construction progress scenarios using 4D software
• Output, e.g. accurate quantities from 5D quantity take off
• Assist with preparation of templates, presentations, internal standards etc.
• Critically analyse digital construction problems and find solutions
• Produce visualisations for both marketing and training purposes 
• Working on time and to budget.
