Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) is Visa’s consulting division, serving Visa’s clients (including card issuers, acquirers, and merchants) and solving their strategic problems focused on improving performance and profitability. Drawing on our expertise in strategy consulting, payments, data analytics, marketing, operational and macroeconomics, VCA drives high impact and tangible financial results for our clients. In Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific, VCA has a team of experienced marketers, consultants and data scientists that will support our expansion into Managed Services, where we help our clients execute on programs of work to increase customer engagement.

What a VCA Senior Software Engineer – Bancs does at Visa:

As part of a supportive and dynamic team, VCA Senior Software Engineers employ their skills in leading software engineering projects to create new features and improvements throughout our client’s Core platform system. As a Senior Software Engineer in one of our Scrum teams, you have broad knowledge of system engineering/automation concepts, practices and procedures and are expected to perform work related to analysis, design, programming, implementation, maintenance and enhancements in a Core Banking platform system. In this role you will also:

• Work along the full lifecycle of software engineering from idea to working production
• Design reusable services following Service Oriented Design principles
• Engineer solutions which are highly secure and performant at scale
• Write code that is easy to read, highly maintainable, and written with automated testing in mind
• A mind for quality leveraging the best in TDD / BDD practices to delivery working software, every time

What you will need:

• Tertiary qualified in Computer Science or similar
• 7+ years in development/software engineering
• Experience working with Agile
• Technical leadership in delivery of sizable software applications / project
• Extensive experience in core Banking and Microfocus COBOL
• Deep understanding of tools across full software delivery lifecycle, e.g. test, mocking, source control (Git), CI, work tracking, defect management, etc
• Proficient in full stack development (e.g. database, services and user interface) or mastery in one layer of the stack with sound understanding of other layers
• Ability to operate in ambiguity
• Demonstrated ability to self-learn, self-motivate and ability to prioritise to achieve exceptional outcomes
• Sound written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to network and stay abreast of changes within the industry and profession
