At VLI, we have a passion for teaching and helping students begin new careers as neurodiagnostic technologists. We offer a twelve-month, online, certificate program that provides graduates with the knowledge, skills, and professionalism necessary to be eligible to seek employment as a neurodiagnostic technologist and to take the ABRET EEG Registration Exam to become Registered EEG Technologists (R. EEG T). Graduate success is our greatest achievement.

VLI instructors enjoy the convenience of working remotely with a flexible schedule. They are responsible for the overall delivery of the online neurodiagnostic technology courses with special focus on student performance and preparation for the ABRET EEG registration exam. Instructors provide online classroom instruction, supervision, and timely assessments of the student’s progress in meeting program requirements, course assessment, and revision of curriculum with goal of ensuring competent entry-level practitioners.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Course Delivery & Performance

o Overall online delivery of the course and student performance

o Conduct monthly live video lectures and/or discussions

o Tutor students as necessary

o Identify and discuss opportunities for course improvements with the Director of Academics

o Implement approved course changes and content updates in a timely fashion

o Analyze and assess student performance to identify opportunities for course improvements

Student Focus

o Ensure regular and substantive interactions with students including, but not limited to, weekly feedback, answering questions via email, phone, and/or online meetings

o Provide weekly course structure and delivery for online students

o Encourage complex thinking, participation, and discussion by all students

o Test for subject knowledge and identify areas for improvement

o Provide timely grade postings and feedback

o Enforce course and program policies

o Identify and counsel at-risk students

o Prepare students to confidently take the EEG registration exam

Clinical Instructor Expectations

o Create and maintain communications with clinical site preceptors for improved student performance

o Monitor student progress towards meeting graduation requirements specific to the number of clinical hours performed, clinical competencies acquired, and the number of routine EEGs performed

QUALIFICATIONS: Instructors must be knowledgeable in subject matter by virtue of appropriate credential(s), training, and experience in the designated content area.

Minimum Requirements:

o Active credential in a neurodiagnostic technology field

o Five (5) years’ clinical and/or teaching experience in a neurodiagnostic technology field

o Must work on a PC (not Mac/Apple) and be computer and Internet savvy

o Active member of American Society of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists (ASET)

Preferences:

o Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field

o Prior experience with Canvas software

o Seven (7) or more years of clinical and/or teaching experience in a neurodiagnostic technology field

o Active Credential in one or more of the following areas: Long Term Monitoring (LTM), Intraoperative Monitoring (IONM), Evoked Potentials (EP), Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS)

o Experience with and working knowledge of current issues, trends, and developments in the field of neurodiagnostic technology and/or online instruction
