Position provides individual and group instruction to male/female offenders at Caroline Unit 2. Successful candidate will maintain classroom, equipment and inventories; ensure compliance with all DOC regulations; maintain accurate records and submit timely reports; and manage and supervise aides and students in classroom.
This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12 month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.
Minimum Qualifications
Must possess working knowledge of all facets of the basic adult education field, ABE/GED, adult literacy and computer software appropriate for program needs. Knowledge and experience of policy and procedures governing adult education.
Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in Adult Education or Special Education, preferably in the subject area to be taught, or a major or minor in high school math.

Preferred Qualifications
Prefer Current Teaching License with an endorsement in Adult Education, Special Education or core academic subject (English, Math, History/Social Studies, Science). Prefer experience teaching adults in an alternative or correctional education environment. Prefer a Master’s degree in Adult Education, Special Education or a core academic subject.
