Viking Air Limited (a subsidiary of Longview Aviation Capital) is the global leader in utility aircraft services and manufacturer of Series 400 and Guardian 400 Twin Otter Aircraft. In 2020, Viking celebrated their 50th anniversary. Viking is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Type Certificate holder for all out-of-production De Havilland Canada aircraft and the Canadair Amphibious Aerial Firefighting aircraft fleet.
Longview Aviation Capital, through its subsidiaries, holds the Type Certificates for the entire original product line of the De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Company. Together these companies continue to make strides in manufacturing and modernizing versatile, fuel efficient and environmentally responsible turboprop aircraft for use around the world.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, this role is eligible for a Temporary Remote Work Agreement under Vikings Remote Work Policy.
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:
The primary purpose of a Sourcing Specialist is:
As a key interface between Viking and a group of world-class aerospace supply chain partners, the Sourcing Specialist will be accountable for managing the ongoing supply of Legacy aircraft parts and services in line with Viking’s sourcing requirements.
Support sourcing related to after-market products for the De Havilland and Canadair Aircraft programs.
Key accountabilities will include supplier quality and risk monitoring, on-time delivery management, cost and inventory optimization, and vendor continuous improvement.
This role is also responsible for improving and/or developing the relationship between Viking and its existing and future supply chain partners.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sourcing:
Identify sources of supply for all purchased components required for the aftermarket programs in line with cost and schedule requirements.
In collaboration with supply chain department, work to secure supply under contracts to best suit Viking’s business needs.
Identify sources of supply for after-market demands in accordance with Viking Quality System requirements.
In collaboration with the Estimator, analyze vendor quotations for procured details to evaluate the cost benefit analysis.
As required, advise the CSR team on availability, lead time and price as requested for purchased components
Sourcing Projects:
In collaboration with Engineering and Technical support identify current or pending obsolete out of production part issues and contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to mitigate.
Carry out strategic sourcing projects for the provision of aircraft aftermarket parts and services
Strategic Sourcing & Risk Assessment:
Facilitate annual supplier risk assessment, develop risk mitigation strategies and carry out actions in accordance with supply chain best practices.
Engage in supplier rationalization activities.
Commodity Management:
Follow standard work practice to organize strategic sourcing based on commodities using ERP best practices.
R2E / Continual Improvement:
Actively participate in R2E program.
Understand metrics that measure key performance parameters.
Strive to achieve world class levels of customer service in every interaction with our customers
EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Commerce, Engineering or Aerospace related degree, or equivalent combination of experience and experience.. An MBA would be an asset.
10+ years experience working in supply chain role within a manufacturing or operations environment.
Excellent negotiation skill is a requirement.
Ability to read and comprehend engineered drawings
Understanding of contemporary lean manufacturing principles and practices.
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with people at all organizational levels.
Intermediate / advanced computer and data analysis skills are desirable.
Aerospace experience, although not required, is a distinct asset.
CSCP certification, although not required would be an asset.
Willingness to learn
Experience in data analysis is a distinct asset
