The Business Partnering and Workplace Relations Division is responsible for delivering business partnering services and providing specialised employee and industrial relations advice across the workforce which comprises over 22,000 employees. The Business Partnering and Workplace Relations Division provides a supportive and dynamic culture where wellbeing is prioritised.

As a key senior team member reporting to the Director, Business Partnering and Workplace Relations, you will have hands-on accountability for leading the HR Business Partnering team, who act as the focal point for people related matters for their assigned portfolio areas and support their clients across all strategic HR and advisory services. You will be results driven and provide guidance in ensuring trusted and influential relationships, specialist HR advice and practical support to managers across the business. You will lead a team of eight HR Business Partners, whose roles have a senior HR generalist focus, managing people-related activities across the employee life cycle with an emphasis on early identification, intervention and resolution.

Your work will be based out of the Victoria Police Centre in Docklands, however at times you may be required to travel to various metropolitan and regional locations within Victoria to support senior clients.

Your duties will include:

Leading a team of eight HR Business Partners to:

• Ensure the provision of strategic, proactive and innovative advice and support across the full spectrum of HR functions;
• Establish and maintain a reputation for being trusted advisors and business partners through the establishment and maintenance of strong stakeholder relationships;
• Creating a climate in which team members are motivated, through the provision of coaching;
• Proactively identifying HR business needs, implementing plans and contributing to people management projects;
• Partnering with other business units and stakeholders to support the organisation; and
• Driving the resolution of complex people related matters.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

• Experience in leading a team of HR professionals;
• Advanced communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to influence diverse stakeholder groups across all levels;
• Demonstrated ability to engage and inspire work groups to help form agile and high performing teams;
• Strong working knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks with contemporary knowledge of HR practices;
• A flair for people management and results driven leadership;
• Resilience, pragmatism, innovation and a passion for continued learning; and
• Demonstrated experience working effectively in a large, fast-paced environment and prioritising to meet the varying demands of a complex area.

Requirements and relevant information:

• One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
• This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
• Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
• The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
