Administered by Vibrant and funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline provides free and confidential emotional support and crisis counseling to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the United States.

The Lifeline comprises a national network of more than 200 local crisis centers, uniting local resources with national best practices.

In July 2022, 988 became the new 3-digit number for the Lifeline. As an easy-to-remember, universal number for people to contact when they experience a suicidal or mental health crisis, 988 will improve access nationwide to the Lifeline’s vital crisis services.

Position Summary : The 988 Contract Manager is responsible for developing and managing the contracts and processes for 988 and related subnetworks.

This position requires frequent interaction with the 988 network centers, partner agencies and other leaders in the suicide prevention and crisis center communities.

Duties / Responsibilities :

Manage contract development and coordination for the 988 Network Centers and ensure adherence to all funder and agency goals;

ensuring that all deliverables are met.

• Coordinate a plan for contracts with all crisis centers to review call / chat trends, troubleshoot concerns / complaints, and share data with Vibrant team, funders and other key stakeholders ensuring that all operational grant related program goals and objectives are measured, met and or exceeded and work with the QI team to develop strategies for improvement
• Convene and facilitate meetings with leadership to discuss development of contracts
• Facilitate and take ownership over the entire RFP process for the network subcontracts
• Facilitate any contractual changes or amendments in coordination with Vibrant Operations and Legal departments
• Oversee the invoice / payment process of the subnetwork contracts in coordination with Vibrant Finance Department
• Complete all s having to do with contracts for external funders / stakeholders (SAMSHA; Vibrant QI ; etc.) as required and in a timely manner
• Work with the Quality Improvement team to ensure KPIs (qualitative and quantitative) of the network and subnetwork centers are being met
• Review daily, week, monthly operations s, analyzing trends and challenges
• Oversee adherence to the implementation of new operational policies and procedures throughout the Network and Subnetworks
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging trends in call center operations management; attending educational workshops;

reviewing professional publications; establishing professional networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies as applicable to the work of 988

• Supervise and meet regularly with the 988 Operations team to ensure :
• Effective contract processes and follow-up with leadership
• Ensure 988 subcontractors meet or exceed their deliverables
• Manage and analyze performance trends and KPIs for the 988 subnetworks
• Represent Lifeline at major national or regional conferences / meetings and advisory committees as needed
• Initiate related discussions on the Network Resource Center discussion boards and other communication modalities and; write related blogs for program announcements;
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications : The ideal candidate will have a degree in business administration, project management, public health / administration, social work / counseling or related field and at least 5 years of management / supervision experience.

Experience in the non-profit sector, mental health, suicide prevention, crisis intervention and / or mental health information and referral services experience a plus.

Knowledge and expertise of public health issues such as capacity building and sustainability (funding streams, payment methods, efficiencies, etc.) preferred.

Physical Requirements :

• Mostly sedentary work; using standard office equipment including : a computer, keyboard, and telephone

• Ability to respond to telephones and other auditory stimulation
