Senior Buyer

Location – Southeast London

Salary – £(phone number removed) per annum depending on experience

My client has a fantastic opportunity within their business for an experienced Senior Buyer. The Senior Buyer will have strong negotiation skills and ideally, previous experience of working with procurement teams in the construction or civil engineering industry.

Senior Buyer Responsibilities:

• To manage the process for materials purchase orders for materials and hire agreements for all sites, coordinating with other sites and requirements
• To investigate and close call off orders, SLA or framework agreements
• Produce the enquiry documentation following the Project requirements
• To evaluate, negotiate and close agreements following the Procurement Procedure.
• To propose and seek approval for the orders via. Insite
• To ensure that the Providers are assessed in accordance with the approved procedures to ensure they are capable of providing goods and services to the project’s required standards and policies
• To liaise with the Accounts Department on the daily requirements of the role. Clarifying invoices if required
• Support the wider procurement team with the provision of specialist knowledge.
• Provide weekly and period progress reports to the Procurement Lead
• Represent Procurement at meetings (both internal and external to the business) – develop long term relationships with strategically important providers

Required Skills/Experience:

• Relevant business degree.
• Previous experience working in the Civil engineering industry would be ideal
  Membership of CIPS (or working towards).
• 3+ years’ experience within procurement or a commercial environment.
• Highly results orientated (proven track record of exceeding targets).
• Proven contract negotiation skills.
• Support and drive change throughout the procurement function.
• Detail orientated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
• Demonstrates strong written and verbal skills.
• Knowledge of procurement systems
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
