Job Summary: The Education Support Specialist’s primary responsibility is to ensure all residential youth have their educational needs met, whether on campus or in the public school setting. The Education Support Specialist is the liaison between the school district, the Department of Human Services and related education entities. During school hours this position is primarily stationed at the on campus school. This position also coordinates and facilitates transition services programming for youth and assists with after care tracking. The Education Support Specialist will be part of the Campus Leadership Team and reports to the Campus Director. As a member of the Leadership Team, this position will be on call one weekend every 4-6 weeks. This is an exempt salaried position, which at times will require work outside of the normal work day schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensures all residents have an individualized education plan and are meeting the goals of those plans
• Enrolls or facilitates the enrollment of all new residents
• Monitors youth behavior and well-being, utilizing a trauma informed approach, assisting with crisis management, as needed
• Secures and supervises tutors and provides other needed educational assistance for residents
• Ensures living skills assessments are completed for all residents within 30 days of placement
• Works with leadership team to tailor programming and goal setting for residents based on individual assessments
• Coordinates and facilitates the Summer Enrichment Program and corresponding grant funding management
• Participates in CQI activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree with experience in the education sector
• Demonstrated success in working with youth with behavioral issues
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Competent in Microsoft Office computer programs
• Successfully passes initial and random drug screenings and background checks
• Possesses a valid driver’s license
• Follows all policies and procedures of the Arkansas Department of Human Services, Division of Youth Services, Arkansas Child Welfare Licensing Board and other board/commissions that the agency relates to professionally.
• Adheres to all agency policies and procedures

Other:

• This position will have a ninety day probation period.
• This position description will be reviewed annually as part of an annual performance evaluation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $36,500.00 – $40,000.00 per year
