Project Solution Architect | Canberra | Hybrid / Offsite / Remote | Citizens | Contract

Job Description:

The department has a requirement for an experienced Program Solutions Architect for the Security Enhancement Program (SEP).

The Solution Architect will be responsible for the successful design and delivery of enhanced security systems and associated information systems used by the Department’s security functions in Australia and at overseas missions.

The Solution Architect is required to provide technical leadership and guidance, being able to translate business requirements from different stakeholders into technical solution options whilst maintaining the integrity of business critical systems; and then, with ICT personnel and project managers, proactively drive/guide the agreed deliverables of the end to end solution.

The Solution Architect will be responsible for producing the following deliverables, including but not limited to:

• Architecture definition documentation for the program and its projects, such as:
• Architectural requirements relevant to establishing solution designs;
• Conceptual designs for security technologies and its use in the department; and
• Information models for the business domain.
• Architecture roadmaps and capabilities for business and information system technologies;
• Architecture patterns for networks supporting security devices and systems; and
• Architecture designs for on-premise and cloud ICT services supporting the ICT strategy and enterprise architecture.

Essential criteria

1. Previous role in the design and delivery of successful information system projects within government organisations meeting organisational and business objectives expectations.
2. A good understanding user design principles to ensure that products provide meaningful and relevant experiences for users.
3. Aptitude to pick up new concepts and technology rapidly; ability to explain it to both business & IT stakeholders
4. Ability to understand business and commercial issues and to demonstrate the benefits of a wide range of IT technologies and services to the business.
5. Experience engaging with and presenting to all levels of business from technical staff through to executives and senior management.
6. Be a creative and strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Desirable criteria

1. A broad technical background in ICT applications, cyber security, integration, and infrastructure services.
2. A minimum 10 years of experience in solution architecture roles, preferably including the areas of federal government personnel and physical security.
3. Demonstrated experience in working with architecture frameworks such as TOGAF and ArchiMate.
4. A broad technical understanding of On-Premise, Private and Public Cloud providers (such as Azure).
5. The ability and confidence to work collaboratively as part of a high performing team. Establish and maintain effective relationships with key internal and/or external stakeholders to identify, lead and deliver high quality business outcomes.
6. A demonstrated capacity to provide timely, compelling, and concise advice to inform executive and senior management to support decision making.
7. High level judgement and decision making to deliver effective technology leadership and management.
