Software Technical Engineer (Multiple) | Canberra / Sydney / Melbourne / Brisbane | Hybrid / Offsite / Remote | Citizens | Contract

Job Description:

The Technical Officer is responsible for providing technical input into discovery and reviews of SaMD products MDSB, and writing up concise s to summarise findings

Key duties:

⦁ Under limited direction, assess information provided by software vendors or developers, highlighting gaps, issues and areas of risk.

⦁ Research information about software products.

⦁ Assess technical artefacts provided to identify whether they are fit for purpose, complete and technically sound.

⦁ As part of the team, respond to specific and complex email and phone enquiries from internal and external stakeholders, seeking appropriate clearance where required.

⦁ Research and write s on specified areas of medical device software products e.g. clinical decision support software, devices incorporating AI.

⦁ Contribute own expertise by providing technical input in preparation of s and other policy implementation undertaken by the team.

⦁ Familiarise with medical device regulations relating to software.

Mandatory Qualifications:

⦁ Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in computer science, software engineering or related area; and

⦁ Experience in a commercial or government IT software development environment

Essential criteria:

⦁ Sound judgment, attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to take responsibility for work, prioritising tasks and producing quality outputs to meet tight deadlines

⦁ Proven ability to produce work requiring little or no revision before finalisation

⦁ Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills;

⦁ Ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders (both internal and external) and demonstrated ability to translate technical information for others using appropriate, unambiguous language

⦁ Maintain a flexible attitude, understanding that priorities may change without notice and able to focus on new priorities in accordance with the strategic direction

⦁ The ability to understand detailed technical information and regulatory principles and summarise concisely at a high level

⦁ The ability to understand principles and identify potential risks or issues that relate to safety and performance

Desired Qualifications:

⦁ Software engineering experience as part of a large structured development such as architecture, design, build, validation or project management of software builds would be highly regarded

⦁ Sufficient experience to understand whether technical artefacts are complete, appropriate to the product and have the required technical depth

⦁ Experience in commercial or medical software development

⦁ Experience in auditing or reviewing IT systems or products
