Network / Gateway Engineer | Canberra | Hybrid / Offsite / Remote | Citizens | Contract

Job Description:

The department has a requirement for the services of a Network / Gateway Engineer to assist with the day to day operations of the department’s global network and gateways. The Network / Gateway Engineer will be expected to participate in strategy, planning, and innovation activities to advance Departmental and Whole of Government priorities, and to strengthen and modernise the department’s gateway environment

The duties of the role will include, but not be limited to:

• Assist with operations of global systems.

• Provide technical contributions to both network and gateway technologies, including (but not limited to) Juniper, Cisco, Trend Micro, F5, Clearswift & Fortigate.

• Contribute to documentation.

Essential criteria:

To fulfil the responsibilities of the role, the following criteria are essential:

1. Minimum five years relevant experience demonstrating strong gateway engineering and technical skills and knowledge.

2. Experience in the development of gateway high-level designs and detailed designs.

3. Ability to articulate technical detail through design and implementation plans.

4. Highly developed diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

5. Ability to work effectively as a team member.

6. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Desirable criteria:

To fulfil the responsibilities of the role, the following criteria are desired:

1. A broad understanding of industry, whole of government direction, emerging technologies and how they can be applied to solve business problems.

2. Strong stakeholder management and client services skills.

3. A strong understanding of ASD Essential 8 and experience with contributing to security accreditation of ICT systems.
