Network Engineer | Hybrid / Offsite / Remote | Citizens

Job Description:

The Network Engineer, under the direction of the Infrastructure Manager, will work as a part of a small agile IT team to assist in the management, and maintenance of department networking systems.

The successful applicant will plan, configure, deploy, support, and manage on-premises and cloud infrastructure services including Windows, Linux, VM servers, Storage systems, Azure infrastructure, Directory, and Identity Management.

The Network Engineer will troubleshoot including LAN, WAN, SDWAN and wireless network and systems problems, diagnosing and resolving software and hardware faults.

The successful applicant will develop and maintain technical documentation related to storage, server, and network systems.

The successful applicant will plan and manage controlled changes, patches, and upgrades to department network hardware, software, and firmware.

Duties are:

1. Design, build, and manage routing and switching solutions including configuration, automation, and monitoring

2. Build, configure, and maintain network security solutions including firewalls, virtual appliances, VPNS, as well as cloud-native routing and switching technologies

3. Install and manage physical hardware including, network routers, switches, and servers

4. Work as part of a team and independently to perform cyber compliance activities.

5. Assist the Infrastructure Manager with procurement, specifying networking requirements, obtaining vendor quotes, and managing the supply of vendor equipment and/or services.

6. Work closely and collaboratively with Infrastructure Team members to identify and improve department network performance and security.

Essential criteria:

1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and delivery of large-scale network solutions.

2. Has proven track record of Staging, Configuration, Implementation and Developing network solutions, design documents, and artefacts to support IT and business projects.

3. Has proven experience in delivering network engineering services within a Government or mid-sized enterprise environment

4. Demonstrated capability and commitment to positively contribute to the work of a small IT team delivering business outcomes.

5. Good written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical skills and sound, well-reasoned judgement.
