Data Analytics Translator | Canberra / Hybrid / Offsite / Remote | Citizens | Contract

Job Description:

The department has a requirement for an experienced Data and Analytics Translator to assist overcome data governance challenges within the Covert and Technical Operations division working together with our technical staff in the development of the Data Management & Analysis Platform (DMAP).

The Services, delivered in collaboration with and under supervision by nominated by personnel, include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Serving as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams, facilitating communication and collaboration to address data governance issues effectively
• Identifying and understanding the data governance challenges specific to the department, such as data quality, access control, destruction processes, data sharing and abiding with laws that govern law enforcement
• Translating complex technical concepts related to data governance into easily understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders such as investigators and administrative staff members
• Analysing existing data governance strategies and frameworks developed by an external agency, and propose strategies to effectively implement strategies within the agency
• Fostering a data driven culture by collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement the data governance strategies, including data classification, naming conventions, data retention, data protection and data sharing protocols
• Conducting training sessions and workshops to raise awareness and understanding of data governance principles, policies and practices
• Facilitating data driven innovation by staying up-to-date with emerging trends, regulations and technological advancements related to data governance, and advocating for their adoption within the department
• Actively measuring and ing improvements in data literacy and data governance procedures within CTO
• Chairing the CTO-specific Data Governance Council (DGC) to manage data management initiatives, issues and escalations. The DGC is responsible for the execution of the Strategy and Framework to ensure that there is ongoing accountability, drive and achievement of CTO data objectives.

Technology skills:

The Data & Analytics translator needs to have a basic understanding of the tools and technologies in the D&A team:

▪ Programming languages like SQL, Python or R and notebooks like R Studio or Jupyter.

▪ Data integration tools like Informatica or Talend.

▪ Analytics and Business Intelligence tools like Microsoft Power BI or Tableau.

▪ DSML platforms like Dataiku, SAS or IBM Watson Studio.

Essential criteria

1. Relevant experience Demonstrated relevant experience (and past performance) in delivering the same or similar goods and/or services.

2. Ability to deliver Availability of required goods or services, committed available resources (including specified persons, contractors or consultants), and/or demonstrated ability to deliver within required timeframes to an acceptable quality standard.

3. Achieve Results Ability to achieve team objectives and delivers on intended results, builds capability and responsiveness within the team, adapts to, supports and manages change.
