Agile Delivery Manager | Canberra | Hybrid / Offsite / Remote | Citizens

Job Description:

The agency is seeking a suitably experienced consultant/contractor to fill the role of Agile Delivery Manager. This role is accountable for the effective management and oversight of the output, productivity and performance of the section.

Duties of the role include:

1. Lead and manage Agile coaches, Product Managers, Release Train Engineers, Agile delivery teams

2. Provide strategic direction and guidance for the Agile Delivery Section, contributing to outcomes of the branch and agency.

3. Manage resource allocation for the Agile delivery section, including workforce planning across 10-15 multidisciplinary teams aligned to delivery plans and agency priorities.

4. Ensure digital delivery aligns with agency priorities, meets user needs, is technologically sound, timely and affordable.

5. Ensure digital staff understand their roles, are supported within their discipline, and work collaboratively to raise maturity and build culture.

6. Coach and mentor team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

7. Develop and implement Agile methodologies, processes, and practices to improve delivery and team performance

8. Identify and manage risks and issues related to Agile delivery and take corrective action as needed

9. Support the agency on its journey of digital transformation and digital maturity uplift.

Essential criteria

1. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field; OR

2. 10+ years of experience in software development (leading, managing or working within teams), with at least 5 years of experience in Agile development methodologies

3. Excellent written and verbal communication including development of briefs, executive presentations

4. Proven experience managing high-performing software development teams

5. Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (ideally SAFe and Scrum)

6. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

Desirable criteria

1. Experience with Agile project management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, etc.

2. Certified qualifications (e.g. Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe certifications) are beneficial

3. Experience managing large programs with competing priorities
