Job description

• We are looking for an experienced and agile-minded engineer to join our growing team and help lead the software development efforts that bring our technology stack to the next level while defining a re-usable architecture that can improve the speed of innovation.
• In this role, you’ll be building cutting edge and highly distributed systems to support online retailers around the world
• You will be creating and maintaining central features across our global website and contributing to and working alongside an established development team
• You will collaborate with Dev teams, Designers and PMs to develop user-facing features, predominantly using Ruby and leveraging the Rails Framework
• You will Review PRs from other team members to maintain quality and share knowledge

What do we expect from you ‍

Required

• Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Ruby on Rails, Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or 5+ years of equivalent professional or military experience
• Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with teams across the business
• Desire to build and maintain scalable, readable and secure code
• Solid experience of wielding large scale applications
• Professional proficiency in English
• Strong curiosity and a desire to always be learning
• 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.

Nice to haves (not required)

• Experience in working within the e-commerce space
• An understanding of the order fulfilment process for online retailers
• Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
• Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
• Experience in scaling and performance tuning of large systems
• Experience with AWS and other cloud technologies
