Variety Child Learning Center Hiring for Special Education Coordinator Job at Syosset, NY Full Time

Variety Child Learning Center (VCLC) is a not-for-profit agency providing quality educational and therapeutic services to young children with disabilities. We are currently accepting applications for a full-time Special Education Coordinator. We have opportunities available in our Syosset and Levittown facilities.

The Education Coordinator is responsible for the supervision, mentoring and training of the education staff (teacher, teacher assistants and teacher aides) in assigned classes to assure that the students in the class are receiving specialized instruction based on their IEPs in a safe, therapeutic environment. The Coordinator oversees the implementation of curriculum, classroom management strategies and instructional methodology which should be compatible with VCLC’s philosophy, the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards, the New York State Early Learning Guides, and the Pyramid Model.

Educational/Certification Requirements: Must have a master’s degree in Special Education, School Building Leadership Certification (SBL) and a NYS Students with Disabilities (Birth -Grade 2) Initial or Permanent Professional Certification, or a NYS Special Education Permanent Certification.

Minimum of 3 years of classroom experience

Full Time: Monday-Friday 8:00am – 3:30pm (Benefit Eligible)

Job Requirements: Must be a reliable, kind person who is willing to work with children with disabilities in a classroom environment. This role is a physically demanding role. The employee is required to be non-sedentary. Security clearances such as Fingerprinting, NYS criminal background check and annual medical required.

Must be fully vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19.
