Accounting Assistant

A well-qualified candidate for the position of Accounting Assistant will have a background in accounting and bookkeeping. The candidate will assist in various aspects of the agency, guiding and helping our existing Accounting Manager with various insurance agency accounting functions. Such as, review and preparation of month-end financial statements, performing periodic reviews of our financials, performing basic office tasks like filing, data entry and mail processing, processing documents such as invoices, financial statements and journal entries, preparing and maintaining spreadsheets and checking for accuracy. Correcting and modifying inaccurate files and records, participate in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reports, along with other duties as needed.

The position will be located in our Tampa office. However, our St. Petersburg office location may be considered for the right candidate.

Qualifications and Requirements

The candidate must be computer savvy, very organized, task oriented, ability to multi-task, and have a sense of urgency, while maintaining high attention to detail and accuracy. Prior insurance agency experience is not necessary, but would be very helpful. Self-motivated and self-directed, with great team work skills.

Minimum requirements are:

• BS degree in Accounting or Finance, or meaningful prior experience in related fields.

Compensation and Benefits

Depending on prior experience and skill set, it is expected that this position will be compensated between $28,000 – $40,000 per year, depending on experience. A comprehensive benefits plan is available. Benefits include paid medical, dental, disability, life insurance, 401k, paid holidays, and paid vacation time for salaried positions.
