Our Team & Opportunity

The FP&A team in Australia is a critical strategic partner in the delivery of Vanguard’s mission and value proposition. This role will focus on providing financial and commercial support – with a focus on cost management, by being involved in producing management information and analytics, participating in quarterly forecast cycles and providing key insights. This role sits within a supportive and high performing team, which makes a significant impact on Vanguard’s Australian business.

What you will do

• Prepares financial analyses and models to assist in the evaluation of business initiatives, capital investments, new services and programs within Vanguard’s business units. Analysis may include pricing, cost-benefit analysis, forecasting, expense and revenue analysis based on drivers and allocations, and net present value analysis. Interprets results and communicates findings in a context which will assist management in decision making process. Coaching and partnering by tenured financial analysts will be available to assist in the completion
• Prepares management reporting of Vanguard Australia performance and delivers management information at cost centre level to drive tight cost control across the region.
• Engages in and contributes to the planning process, taking full responsibility for understanding and validating the results of the entire process for Australia and designated International divisions.
• Develops a broad understanding of the Vanguard Divisions, strategies, initiatives, financial attributes and inter-relationships among its departments.
• Develops expertise regarding data that is required for different divisions and departments. Becomes familiar with the tools available for the retrieval and manipulation of information in order to serve as a resource for complex or ad hoc information inquiries
• Develops and maintains an understanding of the legal and accounting relationships between The Vanguard Group, Inc., its subsidiaries and the Vanguard funds.
• Prepares and communicates financial information in a manner that is of high quality, timely and accurate. Incorporates financial information into useful reports and presentations to assist internal clients management team with making informed decisions.
• Develops financial and nonfinancial measures of business performance for evaluation and control of projects and investments.
• Establishes and maintains close working relationships with Investment Management and Corporate Financial Services to continually enhance understanding and alignment of clients’ needs for global reporting.
• Assists in the identification of the KPIs and success criteria that will be used to track business case progress.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

What are we looking for

• Undergraduate degree (Finance or Economics preferred) or an equivalent combination of training and experience. CA, CPA would be preferred, however not essential.
• Minimum of two years business experience (related experience preferred.)
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external clients.
• Strong Microsoft Office/PC skills.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Initiative and ability to work independently, deals well with ambiguity.
• Ability to grasp new concepts quickly.

• Power BI and Tableu experience or a genuine interest in developing this skillset
