Job Overview

The Senior Software Engineer, Team Lead position is responsible for the technical vision, architecture, and execution of all technical development. You have a demonstrated ability to build and lead teams. You will determine required technology solutions and lead efforts to develop or source tools to meet the needs of the business. You are used to working with diverse development teams and are a great communicator. You thrive in collaborative environments.

What You Will Do

• Design, develop, deploy, and operate technical architecture and systems. Identify opportunities to improve existing systems/workflows for performance, speed, and accuracy. Ruthlessly optimize for productivity – your own and that of the entire engineering team.
• Coach and mentor talented engineers by giving them actionable feedback and setting clear goals. Assist in calibrating and developing the engineering team as a whole.
• Ensure the team’s ability to understand project requirements, build effective technical project roadmaps and plans, and ship high-quality products. • Review all feature designs within your product area and across the company for cross-cutting projects. Be an owner of the security, safety, scale, operational integrity, and architectural clarity of these designs.
• Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and process for regular assessment and improvement. Participate and drive operational reviews and hold both ICs and managers accountable for improvements. Be a relentless advocate for improving the customer experience created by our architecture and code outcomes.
• Help with leadership recruiting efforts for hiring senior engineers and managers. Recruit others like yourself and serve as a beacon to the best engineers on the planet through blogs, conference presentations, and other external engagements and/or social media.
• Drive the team’s goals and help drive the technical direction of the company. Be a willing partner with the executive team in analyzing and making decisions involving complex technical topics.
• Understand the trends within the company and in the industry at large. Call out problematic ideas and provide appropriate push-back to engineers, managers, and executives.
• Debugging extremely difficult technical problems, and make systems and products both work better and are easier to deploy, own, operate and diagnose.

Requirements

• 3+ years of DevOps experience with large-scale distributed infrastructure systems and client-server architecture
• 3+ year experience with Linux platform
• Good experience with Python or relevant programming skills
• Experience with Cloud Computing platforms: AWS, MongoDB
• Experience with DevOps, container, microservices architecture, etc
• In-depth experience API integrations, RESTful services, Node.js, AWS-SDK, MongoDB, Docker.
• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL database – MySQL, Redis, etc

Libraries/Frameworks:

Back End Technology

• Node.js utilizing express middleware. Restful conventions following CRUD conventions. Experience with postman is preferred.

• Understanding of ES6+ features. Experience with promises and async/await is a must. async.io would be a plus

• NoSQL with MongoDB clusters. A good understanding of replica sets, transactions, and the mongoose wrapper API. Working with MongoDB Atlas platform ( nice to know ).

• Basic understanding of SQL and its integration with WordPress WPDB class. Proficient in PHP, specifically working within the WordPress framework.

• AWS-SDK CLI working with S3 and SES specifically.

• Familiar with Docker containerization technology.

• The following packages are a must: axios, jspdf, knex, mongoose, moment, moment-timezones, nodemailer.

• Ops/IT Experience

• AWS certified developer certificate, or at least a strong understanding of the following services:

• EC2, SG, ALB, Route53, RDS, CodePipeline, CodeStar, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, IAM User Roles and Policy management, VPC, S3, SES, ACM.

• Proficient with bash shell scripting for CICD scripts when building / deploying Node/Wordpress applications.

• Git version control working with bitbucket and bitbucket pipelines. Submodules is a must.

Nice to haves

Front End Technology

• General HTML/CSS/JS.

• Vue 2.0, vuex, vue-router, preferable experience working with vuetify components library.

• Nuxt.js and / or a good understanding of SSR ( server-side rendering ) concepts.

• Tailwind.css, Postcss, Webpack 5.0 working with HRM technology for vue hot reloading.

Management / Trackers

• Atlassian JIRA project management working with kanban boards.

• Atlassian Confluence.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $75,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
