Physician Assistant Job Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Supervising Physician, the Physician Assistant (PA-C) is responsible for providing general care to patients of all ages. This position attends to patient needs with utmost patience, care, compassion, and understanding while performing tasks such as conducting tests, recording medical histories, providing treatments, assisting physicians, and enhancing public awareness on the importance of health. The PA-C must demonstrate professionalism through adherence to Valley Family Medicine policies and values. Promotes and maintains health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician.

Physician Assistant Job Duties:

• Willingness to take over existing patients as well as take on new patients
• Contributes to physician’s effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing physician directives.
• Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.
• Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies; interpreting test results.
• Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
• Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections.
• Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information; discussing family planning; providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living; promoting wellness and health maintenance.
• Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
• Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Assess patients’ health and their demands and aim to fulfill them as well as possible
• Issue appropriate prescriptions and administer medicine
• Inform physicians about any problems or discrepancies that might arise
• Acquire and review patient histories identifying abnormal conditions
• Monitor patients’ progress and keep records of treatments, surgeries or other medical events
• Attend to emergencies

• Prepare patients for examinations and conduct routine procedures (measure blood pressure and temperature, administer injections etc)
• Provide therapeutic treatments (disinfecting wounds, stitching etc.)
• Cultivate a climate of trust and compassion for the patients
• Comply strictly with medical care regulations and safety standards
• Collaborate effectively with team members of various specializations

Requirements:

• Current UtahPhysician Assistant License
• Current UtahControlled Substance License
• Current UtahDEA Certificate Schedule ll thru V

• 2+ years’ experience as a Physician Assistant
• Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
• Ability to effectively interpret and communicate health care information to patients, family and the healthcare team.

• Familiarity with EHR/EMR programs
• Confidence to work independently
• Proven work experience as a physician assistant
• Knowledge of medical guidelines and procedures regarding examination, therapy and recovery
• Familiarity with advancements in medical technology and current know-how
• Problem solving skills and ability to multi-task
• Caring and compassionate
• Team playerwith good communication skills
• BSc/MA in Physician Assistant Studies, Health Science or Medical Science
