Valero Hiring for Senior Energy Engineer Full Time

Provides support for Valero’s power, natural gas and industrial gas business. Includes analysis and publishing of energy metrics, and evaluation of strategic initiatives related to power, natural gas, and industrial gases supply. Supports business operations including administration of Valero’s natural gas, power, and industrial gases purchase agreements to meet refinery supply requirements. Models business opportunities and contracts associated with power, industrial gas, and natural gas.

• Monitors energy prices and publishes daily s (industrial gases, natural gas, and power pricing trends & comparison).
• Assists in developing supply/sale of wholesale industrial gases (H2, O2, N2, CO2) for Valero’s refining operations
• Assists in negotiating and reviewing long-term supply agreements for industrial gas supply and transportation
• Assists in developing hydrogen balances for each refinery
• Coordinates with Valero Accounting to record transactions (volume & pricing) and develops s related to service agreements between Valero & 3rd parties.
• Develops and provides s such as Business Unit Review (BUR), Price Forecasts and others as needed.
• Supports the strategic planning process and potential business development projects.
• Interacts with site operations to coordinate power and industrial gases supply plans and optimize energy opportunities (involves acquiring operations trends and various operations s).
• Monitors power pricing for Valero ERCOT sites to support risk management efforts (reduce exposure to extreme pricing conditions).
• Assists with power contracting for all Valero sites.
• Supports contract administrative activities, e.g., records contracts in PCS and LETS (lease evaluation), assists with FERC s, produces SEC s related to energy, and supports Sarbanes Oxley auditing.
• Performs special assignments related to Power and Industrial Gas supply as assigned.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

• Ability to focus on satisfying customer requirements (internal and external) required.
• Ability to accomplish work within required timeliness required.
• Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Engineering required.
• At least 5 years of experience in the following area(s): engineering, oil and gas, chemical, wholesale commodity, or energy industry required.
• MBA or Masters in other Business related fields preferred.
• Experience in Engineering and Business preferred.
• Experience within the energy industry with an emphasis in refining, petrochemicals, industrial gases, logistics, or other wholesale related commodity experience preferred.
