WHAT UTOPIANS DO

The open secret is that the music industry is struggling with the very basics of music accounting: What was played, when and where? Who should get paid and how much?

Utopia Music is bridging the data gap by connecting global consumption, accurate metadata, and fast payments to an industry-wide trust platform. Our goal is to unlock creative value and enable Fair Pay For Every Play to make a better world for Music. The solutions we offer do not threaten to usurp the role of industry incumbents – it is about bringing transparency in the industry and supporting efficient royalty collection for all.

THE ROLE

As a Trainee in Utopia’s FinTech Compliance, you will be assisting the team in a variety of tasks: drafting and reviewing policies and other legal documents, carrying out compliance reviews and drafting reports, conducting legal research on various matters, including financial regulation and data protection. You will also be a key contributor to the expansion and planning for our rapidly growing global financial services affairs.

You will be working closely with the Utopia organization and its financial services Business Unit. You will report to the Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs and also to the Senior Compliance Officer. You will be part of a team that is highly motivated and with ambitious goals for the future and have the chance to learn and grow within an experienced team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Be a key player in the daily compliance for our licensed entities.
• Work in collaboration with and supporting the financial services unit within the Utopia Group on their business and legal needs.
• Support the teams with document review, internal quality/compliance checks as well as relevant drafting.

REQUIREMENTS

• Completed legal studies (Bachelor and Master), with particular interest in business/commercial law.
• A solution driven attitude to meeting objectives.
• Ability to structure and organize in a fast-paced environment.
• Team player – Enjoys building relationships, having fun with colleagues and serving stakeholders
• Previous experience from a fast growing company or other highly relevant experience would be an advantage
• Fluent in English – written as well as spoken, additional languages are a plus!
• Interest in the intersection of the music/finance industry and a love for music and technology
• Great communication skills

• Our hybrid remote policy provides Utopians the freedom to work either from one of our inspiring offices or from home. For learning and developing purposes we require this Trainee to have regular access to either our Stockholm or London office depending on your location.
• We are only recruiting within Sweden and the UK for this Trainee-Fintech Compliance position and therefore can only move forward with applicants already based in this location and who have eligibility to work within these countries.
