The UVU Respiratory Therapy Program is seeking a Lab Manager I to support RT faculty in meeting students’ needs of the practical and hands-on clinical education throughout the RT program. Responsibilities include oversight of lab activities; the cleaning, maintenance, and operation of simulation manikins; managing skills-training props, supplies, and equipment; and instructing faculty regarding proper function and use of lab equipment and supplies. Supervises/manages program items issued to students including tablets, textbooks, PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), supplies, and other training equipment (this includes checking in/out and rehab when necessary). The RT Lab Manager will work within the university procurement process to acquire both durable and expendable items for the lab, as well as developing workflow processes and correct procedures for the simulation program.
Required Qualifications | Graduation from a regionally-accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or similar healthcare field. A combination of education and full-time work experience in a related field totaling a minimum of six years may also be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | Knowledge
Working knowledge of RT or similar lab education practices
Working knowledge of RT equipment and latest trends
Working knowledge of RT activities and certification requirements for both state and national organizations
Working knowledge of information technology including computers, monitoring systems, and word processing applications
Familiarity of inventory controls, practices, and standard procedures, specifically, how to implement these
Customer service-oriented with effective “people” skills
Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills (both verbal and written)
Skills in multi-tasking and prioritizing with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications | Experience with RT equipment and/or education.
Certified Respiratory Therapist who is licensed or otherwise regulated.
Physical Requirements | Must have the physical ability to perform manual work in a lab setting.
