Overview
The USU Controller’s Office seeks to hire a Senior Accounting Assistant as part of the Sponsored Programs accounting team. The successful applicant will participate in and assist with all areas of the post-award accounting functions.

Responsibilities

• Journal entries
• Reconciliations
• Learn about and apply regulations regarding federal awards
• Bill log maintenance
• Time and Effort reporting
• A/R collections
• Award closeouts
• Communication with campus community
• Maintain schedules and reports to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Prepare invoices to outside agencies
• Other assignments and duties as assigned

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree plus two years of experience, or an associate degree plus four years of experience, or six years of relevant experience
• Excellent computer skills, with emphasis on Microsoft Excel and Word
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Detail oriented
• Self-motivated and able to successfully complete work assignments with limited supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business
• Knowledge of regulations regarding federal grants and contracts
• Experience with Banner accounting system
• Experience in higher education accounting
