Full Job Description
Duties
- Safely operate machine tools that will range from manually controlled to completely automatic.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy of machined parts prescribed by blueprints, sketches, or other instruction.
- Make minor changes to machine set up for different work piece sizes and shapes.
- Control machine tool feeds, speeds, starts, and stops for successive machine operation.
- Recognize defective tooling, improper coolant flow, and machine tooling malfunctions.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position meets the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires you to obtain and maintain an installation’s fork lift operator license.
- This position requires you possess and maintain a valid stateside driver’s license.
- This position is designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, you are required to to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Minimum Qualifications (Screen t Element): Ability to do the work of a Machine Tool Operator, WG-3414-08, without more than normal supervision, performing commonmachine tool operation duties; recognizing defective tooling, improper parts formation, machine malfunctions, and making the proper adjustments.
Physical Effort: Work requires standing, stooping, bending, and reaching objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Items in excess of 50 pounds will be lifted with weight handling equipment or with the assistance from other workers.
Working Conditions: Works inside areas that are usually noisy, and dirty, and where there is a constant danger to the skin and eyes; skin irritation from various elements; danger to fingers, hands, and other parts of the body from cutting tools, grinding wheels, rotating work pieces, and moving parts of machines.
