US Army Installation Management Command Hiring for Gardener (Motor Vehicle Operator) at West Point, NY Full Time

Duties

• Performs work, which requires practical knowledge and skill in the maintenance, protection, preservation and general care of soil and plants used to beautify buildings and grounds, and in greenhouses, parks, recreation, and other like areas.
• Trims, prunes shrubbery, trees and turf. Also applies fertilizers, lime and seed to specifications by Agronomist.
• Operates mechanical powered equipment such as tractors and attachments, mowing equipment, fertilizer spreaders, seeders, rakes, weed-wackers, and equipment used in landscaping.
• Operate pickup, 1 l/2, 2 l/2, and 5 to 8 ton dump trucks required to transport personnel, equipment, and supplies.
• Use of agricultural tractors, three point hitch attachments such as landscape rake, fertilizer spreaders and rototillers, and similar equipment when necessary.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
• This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid Government Driver’s License to operate vehicles.
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid Class B New York State Commercial Driver’s License to operate vehicles.
• This position has been designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
