Position Description
Teachers at Urban Prep provide students with a rigorous, high quality and engaging academic experience.
Maintaining academic excellence requires that teachers work collaboratively with the Principal, Assistant
Principal, and/or Department Chair to effectively communicate expectations to students, parents, members
of the community, and colleagues from across our network of schools. Teachers to and are evaluated
by the Principal, Assistant Principal, and Department Chair.
Responsibilities
ï‚· Know, understand, and incorporate the principles established in the Urban Prep Creed and promote
the 8 Core Values of Urban Prep in all aspects of work and when interacting with students and
colleagues
ï‚· Create a positive, orderly learning environment that engages students, maximizes instructional
time, and promotes the sustainment of a positive school culture
 Manage students’ behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
ï‚· Accurately demonstrate knowledge in his/her content area, instructional methods, and relevant
skills
 Plan and deliver skills-based lessons and activities that incorporate knowledge of students’
academic needs and best practices
ï‚· Define problems, analyze data, and develop action plans to increase student achievement
ï‚· Ability to incorporate content area curriculum and skills maps into weekly planning for instruction
ï‚· Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
ï‚· Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development
ï‚· Provide necessary accommodations and modifications for students with special needs per their
IEP or 504 Plan
ï‚· Demonstrate a willingness to share personal talents and interests, through serving as a coach of
an Urban Prep athletic team or through the moderation of a club or activity
ï‚· Keep up to date with new developments in the areas of teaching and learning and make relevant
changes to instructional plans and activities
ï‚· Effectively communicate with parents
o Calling students and parents
o Emailing students and parents
o Returning phone calls/e-mails ASAP but no longer than 24 hours after the initial contact
ï‚· Effectively communicate with teachers, network/campus administrators
o Calling and or e-mailing teachers and administrators as needed
o Returning phone calls/e-mails promptly but no longer than 24 hours after the initial
contact
ï‚· Keep timely and accurate daily attendance records
ï‚· Ensure that students are in proper uniform
ï‚· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
 Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred
ï‚· Have a deep understanding and command of best practices in teaching and learning
ï‚· Be adept at data analysis
ï‚· Have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders
ï‚· Be flexible and possess a desire to work as a member of a team
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $49,000.00 – $62,000.00 per year
