Job title: Financial Accountant

Reporting to: Managing Director

Location: Chatham, Kent

The Financial Accountant will have responsibility for the delivery of the financial and
management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and all other areas of finance across a number
of small businesses. The role will be responsible for highlighting any financial risks and
opportunities to the Directors based on financial analysis presented. The right candidate
will be able to coordinate statutory accounts production with the external accountant and
able to communicate financial analysis in a clear and accurate way to non-finance
professionals.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 Month-end accounting, including the calculation and posting of accruals and
prepayments to Xero, plus any other month-end (or year-end) journal adjustments
identified e.g. depreciation, loan interest.
 Production of accurate monthly management accounts from Xero, promptly following
the end of every calendar month, with key points highlighted to the Management Team.
 Monthly cash flow forecasting and presentation of these to the Directors, highlighting
any potential risk areas and advising on cash maximisation.
 Balance sheet reconciliation. Ensure all balance sheet balances are fully reconciled,
accurate and reflective of what is owed and due to each Company. Ensure
intercompany balances reconcile at all times.
 Xero bookkeeping and bank reconciliation undertaken for the Property Companies, with
oversight and review of Urban Cooling bookkeeping function.
 Accounting for ad-hoc property transactions in Xero.
 Supplier statement reconciliation.
 Monitor and record rent receivables to ensure rent is collected in full and on a timely basis
across all properties.
 Reconciliation of council tax across all properties, including void periods.

 Work with the Company’s stakeholders and external partners of each Company on any
financial matters, in particular the external accountants who prepare the statutory
accounts.
 Provide financial advice to Directors where necessary.
 Ensure all financial processes are centrally documented.
 Lead the Company’s financial development, developing the Company’s long-term and
annual financial plans.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION
Qualifications: Possesses a recognized accountancy qualification e.g. AAT, CIMA, ACCA, ACA
Experience: Prior experience of the above responsibilities in a similar role.
Knowledge/Skills:
 Technically competent in the use of financial software, experience with Xero would be
beneficial. Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
 Technically competent in all areas of financial control and financial management.
 Effective interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate with non-Finance personnel.
 Attention to detail, with an emphasis on accuracy but with an ability to see the bigger
picture and ensure the accounts are reflective of the businesses.
