The Department of Education wishes to appoint a number of part time Associate Lecturers (Teaching & Scholarship) to provide pastoral and dissertation supervision for Masters students and to contribute more widely to teaching and assessment activities.

Role

The post provides an exciting opportunity for successful candidates who can contribute to teaching, supervision, assessment and administration across the Department’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The main focus of the role is to provide pastoral and dissertation supervision for students enrolled on the Masters programmes and to assist with the marking of summative assessments. However, you may also be asked to contribute to face-to-face or online teaching and other related activities. The Department is proud to be recognised as one of the leading education departments in the country. You will join a collegial and supportive group of staff in the Department.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

You must meet the following essential criteria:

• a PhD in Education or a related discipline, or have equivalent experience.
• an appropriate academic professional and teaching qualification or a willingness to work towards one
• knowledge in one or more areas of education which fit with the specialism of our programmes,such as compulsory education, international education, language education, gender inequality in education, citizenship and social justice education, psychology in education.
• be able to engage effectively with a wide ranging audience both orally and in writing
• be able to supervise the work of students, provide advice on study skills and assist with learning problems
• be experienced in teaching and learning in HE at undergraduate and/ or postgraduate level or in an equivalent context

Experience of working successfully with international students would be desirable

Posts are available immediately or from as soon as possible after 1st January 2022. We are open to being flexible in terms of the FTE where possible to suit candidates’ circumstances and depending on candidate’s area of expertise.
