Student and Academic Services is organised into the following departments/service areas:
The Learning Enhancement (LE) team is recruiting an Academic Skills Adviser – Online on a fixed term contract for between 12 and 18 months. The Learning Enhancement team supports undergraduate, taught Masters and research students in their development as successful students and independent, confident members of the academic community and society. Services offered include: online skills resources and information; an interactive workshop programme; support for group learning and peer support; skills centres offering appointment-based services; and tailored, department-based teaching support. Academic Skills Advisers may be full- or part-time. In the latter case, work patterns may reflect the need for continuity of service through the year or, for specific roles, may be adapted to respond to specific cohorts.
As part of the LE team, you will lead on the development and maintenance of online academic skills resources, which are housed primarily within the Skills Guides and associated Practical Guides. You will have experience of creating accessible online resources in various formats, such as online documents, videos, web content and interactive learning objects. You will also have experience of teaching or supporting students from a range of subject backgrounds at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, knowledge of current research and legislation related to HE & online pedagogy and accessibility, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
