University of York Hiring for Academic Accounting Finance Business Partner Job at United Kingdom Full Time

Role

We are seeking a high calibre Finance Business Partner to join our Science Faculty Academic Accounting team. The Science Faculty has 10 key departments, around 7000 students, a number of dedicated research facilities and research centres with total future predicted annual turnover of £170m, £75m attributable to research. You will perform the key role of Finance Buisness Partner and Management Accountant and oversee the finances for a number of academic departments and be an active contributing member of the Science Faculty Accounting team.

Your primary place of work will be in the Academic Departments you support, however the university operates a flexible approach to on-site working and you will also be required to work from home on a regular basis. Appropriate IT equipment will be provided to facilitate this hybrid working aranegment. You will work closely with Department Management Teams, Heads of Department and other Managers and you will directly line-manage members of the wider Science Faculty Finance team.

You will be a technically competent individual with excellent communication skills and excellent line management skills. You will have the ability to liaise with a wide range of academic and professional support staff across the University with differing financial understanding, in the production of high quality management information and financial plans. As a positive ‘can-do’ individual you will work flexibly to offer a consistently high quality level of customer service, whilst successfully delivering on reporting deadlines.

Key Requirements

• Accountancy qualification (for example ACA, ACCA or CIMA

• Excellent knowledge of finance systems, processes and regulations

• Experience of accounting for research and other grant funded activities

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Experience of direct staff management

• Ability to establish and nurture productive partnerships both internally and externally
