3 x Permanent positions, 1.0 FTE.
An exciting opportunity has risen to join the University of Warwick’s ever-growing Report and Support Team as we recruit 3 new Student Liaison Officers. The Student Liaison Officer Team at the University of Warwick respond to disclosures made via the university’s online disclosure platform, Report and Support, of sexual misconduct, discrimination, hate incidents/ crimes, bullying and harassment from both students and staff- empowering reporters to make their own choices around reporting and support options with a trauma-informed approach. The team remains a single point of contact for both a reporting and responding party for formal complaints made to the institution, providing advocacy, coaching and emotional support to both parties.
Student Liaison Officers are equally skilled in project management as they are at managing high-risk cases. With the freedom to develop and deliver behavioural education around each form of harassment to thousands of students and staff each year, Liaison Officers need to be confident in both researching and delivering engaging workshops. For instance, this year the team will be the first to deliver the only evidence-based sexual violence prevention programme to young women in the UK, as well as partnering with the Students’ Union to develop ‘The Maskulinities Project’, a peer-led intervention scheme which aims to assist all Male students in championing change in their communities and actively contributing to the fight against gender-based violence, sexism and homophobia.
Student Liaison Officers are passionate about prevention and intervention, hoping to shift behavioural norms beyond Warwick’s community. Engaged in national campaigns, local and public service scrutiny panels, partnerships with neighbouring crisis centres and services, and even internationally in the first European-wide survey on experiences of sexual violence within Higher Education, EUTOPIA and partnerships with Monash University.
We recognise intersectionality as a service, as well as the importance of lived experience and diversity across our team, in a bid to provide the best service possible to a diverse student and staff population. Specialisms in responding to specific forms of harassment are welcome when paired with an appetite to develop an understanding for all forms of harassment.
A Student Liaison Officer at Warwick is someone who takes pride in challenging policies and process in a bid to offer a sector-leading service for our students and staff. We challenge the status quo and the prospect of one day eliminating harassment from our community energises our team. If you share this vision, you’ll be invaluable to our team.
Interview Date: 13/14 October 2022.
