An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Warwick Medical School’s Educational Quality Team. You will work with the academic Head of Quality Assurance and Enhancement and second Education Quality Support Officer on a range of initiatives and projects supporting the quality assurance and enhancement of the educational provision of Warwick Medical School.

Job purpose

To provide support for the maintenance and further development of quality assurance and enhancement initiatives for the education portfolio in Warwick Medical School.

Duties and responsibilities

Quality of Education Provision

1. Work with the Head of Quality Assurance and Enhancement to support quality assurance and enhancement processes and initiatives across the education portfolio in relation to regulations, reporting, and compliance.

2. Receive, review and respond to internal and external quality assurance and enhancement data and reports from a range of different sources (including external examiners reports, annual course reviews, student evaluation questionnaires, and external student surveys etc.), providing summaries and reports on themes and issues to the Head of Quality Assurance and Enhancement, and coordinating any necessary follow-up.

3. Provide guidance to course teams on the best practice standards for quality delivery, including annual course reviews, student evaluation questionnaires, module and course feedback, and exam boards, and track and monitor developments and progress, where appropriate.

4. Support the Head of Quality Assurance and Enhancement in selecting and appointing external examiners and managing the external examiner report process, liaising with course teams on requirements, seeking nominations from academic leads, and maintaining appropriate records.

5. Servicing relevant committees and working groups relating to quality assurance and enhancement.

6. Work with and support the Head of Quality Assurance and Enhancement on any ad hoc projects relating to education quality assurance and enhancement initiatives.

Quality of Clinical Placement Providers, Placements, and Sites for Collaborative Partnerships

1. Support the programme of visits to relevant NHS organizations and collaborative partners, including initial preparation and their follow-up.

2. Provide support for external quality assurance monitoring visits.

3. Coordinate the production of relevant annual or periodic returns required for external audit or quality assurance and enhancement purposes e.g., Medical Schools’ Annual Return.

Information Systems and data management

1. Coordinate with the WMS learning technology team, WMS IT Services, and central IT Services to plan and implement improvements to information systems across the education portfolio.

2. Provide overall coordination for the timetabling of teaching activities across the education portfolio, working with the administrative leads in the education teams to review requirements and priorities, and to plan teaching space requirements.

3. Manage the infrastructure for the Medical School’s academic workload model.

4. Liaise with the Academic Office, Education Policy and Quality, and others, to ensure that module and course data is accurate.

Other Duties

1. Maintain oversight of the School’s compliance with UK Visas and Immigration’s requirements in relation to Tier 4 students, and attendance monitoring for all students, working with colleagues in the education teams to ensure effective processes are in place, and facilitating improvements to processes where required.

2. Maintain the education quality information on the Medical School’s intranet and provide advice to education support teams on information for students on education quality related matters, e.g., for student handbooks.

3. Undertake any other reasonable duties required to support education quality assurance and enhancement within WMS.

4. The post holder will need to be able to travel between several sites within the West Midlands area.
